THIS IS A SUMMARY FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE. YOU MUST READ, UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OUTLINED ON THE PERMIT APPLICATION IN ADDITION TO BYLAW 2514.

BEFORE YOU BURN, HAVE YOU DONE THE FOLLOWING?
  • Have your Permit?
  • Checked Fire Bans?
  • Checked Venting index?
  • Had your site inspection by RDNO?
  • Have a competent supervisor on site at all times?
  • Have your water & extinguisting equipment on site?
  • Do you meet all the requirements?

What is Class A burning?   If your lot is at least 2.47 acres and you have debris from land clearing for a non-farming use only, then Class A burning is for you!

    CLASS A OPEN BURNING - PERMIT REQUIRED ($1,000+)
  • Permit Application
  • Pre-Inspection Req'd ($100+)
  • Debris from land clearing for a non-farming use only that has been dried for 180 days min
  • No compostable or recyclables (no leaves/weeds/needles/etc)
  • No material from offsite
  • NO OTHER MATERIALS ALLOWED!
  • Venting Index is Good
  • No Fire Ban in effect
  • Minimum parcel 2.47 acres
  • 3m to 10m max diameter piles
  • 100m setback from neighboring residences and businesses
  • 500m setback from schools in session, hospitals and care facilities
  • Nothing added after 5pm
  • Max 3 Consecutive Days
  • Continuous Supervision
  • Sufficient Water onsite
  • Sufficient Equipment onsite
  • Sufficient Labour onsite
